Sacred River Agri Technologies: Empowering Sustainable Agriculture through Digital Innovation

CIO Vendor The agricultural technology market in India is rapidly evolving, driven by factors such as government initiatives promoting agricultural innovation. While technological advancements have undoubtedly improved agricultural practices, many farmers still struggle to deal with pest management, irrigation systems, and unpredictable weather. This is because most of them have limited access to information and education about available agricultural techs and solutions. Without the necessary knowledge and understanding, it becomes difficult for them to adopt appropriate strategies to cope with the challenges effectively. To simplify the lives of farmers, Sacred River Agri Technologies has developed tech enabled, user-friendly, and affordable solutions.

Sacred River Agri Technologies actively collaborates with farmers, offering comprehensive services for managing the entire crop lifecycle. By providing free expert guidance, the company assists farmers in adopting sustainable agricultural practices. Additionally, they facilitate access to top-notch farm inputs at a hyperlocal level, resulting in reduced costs and improved farm productivity for the farmers. Sacred River Agri Technologies actively advocates for the reduction of chemical usage and promotes the increased utilization of bio/organic alternatives in place of chemical-based inputs.

Established in May 2020, Sacred River Agri Technologies initially focused on Uttar Pradesh (UP) owing to its substantial agricultural market size and underserved nature. Farmers in UP encountered difficulties in accessing
highquality inputs and lacked proper guidance, resulting in an imbalance between agrochemical and fertilizer usage. The limited adoption of organic inputs led to compromised product quality, leading to rejections in exports. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, a team of experienced agronomists was remotely brought together in Lucknow to establish Sacred River Agri Technologies, under which the Krishika brand was launched.

Sacred River Agri Technologies stands out among AgTech startups by possessing all three licenses (seed, fertilizer, and pesticide) required for the agri input sector. While many startups focus solely on agrochemicals and seeds, they tend to avoid the fertilizer aspect due to stringent government regulations. However, Sacred River proudly holds licenses in the fertilizer space and utilizes them to promote bio-fertilizers. “Our objective is to improve farm incomes and make them more predictable, be it for the medium or large farmers, or the small and marginal farmers,” states Anshumali Dwivedi, Founder of Sacred River Agri Technologies.

Sacred River Agri Technologies was the first startup to explore satellite imagery solutions for agriculture and develop mobile apps. Today, the company is known for its Krishika Kisaan eMart, an assisted e-commerce solution. They also have physical marts where a complete range of high-quality agri inputs are made available to farmers. The company also provides Kisaan Saarathis, an on-field team trained by agriculture experts, who are BSc. or MSc. Agriculture, and some even Ph.D. They undergo a stringent training program to provide the best guidance to farmers and farmer representatives. Through the e-commerce app, the Kisaan Saarathis carry out surveys and accumulate orders on behalf of farmers. These bulk orders are then processed and delivered through the Krishika network.

Sacred River Agri Technologies has been chosen to participate in a government incubation program in India, with the objective of creating gamified agriculture solutions. They intend to utilize technology to extend their expertise to a broader audience in India and Southeast Asia. Moreover, they aspire to leverage market insights to develop agricultural credit and insurance products. With ongoing refinements to its solutions, Sacred River Agri Technologies plans to expand its geographical presence in the future.
